Let me know how that works for you..

GEN Stanley McChrystal.

Ninja Warrior by all accounts.

Apparently, not afraid to speak his mind?

The article goes on to paint McChrystal as a man who “has managed to piss off almost everyone with a stake in the conflict,” including U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, Special Representative to Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and National Security Adviser Jim Jones.

Of Eikenberry, who railed against McChrystal’s strategy in Afghanistan in a cable leaked to The New York Times in January, the general said, “‘Here’s one that covers his flank for the history books. Now if we fail, they can say, “I told you so.'”

ADM Fallon walked away from CENTCOM for saying much, much less. And he was a COCOM.

I can’t imagine that GEN McChrystal will stay around much longer following this little bit of fun.

The big question is this… you don’t get to his level without knowing what you’re doing. There simply are no “Oh, I didn’t think that would get printed.” moments.

So, is he looking for an easy way out of a horrible problem as he tries to fight the Afghan war with the Iraq playbook and an administration that isn’t what you’d call 100% supportive?

or is he really this politically inept?

I think he believes he is politically astute. Whether he actually is is open to question. In terms of his motivation, I think it’s significant he is preemtively accusing others of trying to cover their asses in case his offensive and strategy fail. It’s clear this is his way of preemptively covering *his* ass, by accusing others of doing the same. He’s trying to setup the scenario that if he fails, it’s only because he was backstabbed by “the politicians”.

He’s going about this in a very childish and self-destructive way, however. Particularly in allowing his aides to denigrate the VP in public and on the record. This is just moronic, and suicidal. He’s dealing with a president that gave him almost everything he asked for. The only beef he could possibly have would be with the 2011 deadline for withdrawal. But the mature way to deal with that would be to propose a new date to Obama based on a new strategic situation and timetable. I’m sure Obama would listen to that, especially of McChrystal were showing progress on the ground.

And here, I think, is the real motivation. I think McChrystal is beginning to see that he is not going to have much progress to show for his efforts, particularly in Kandahar. So he’s switched to CYA mode, but in a very unsophisticated way. He doesn’t have the years of Pentagon experience under his belt that Petraeus had, and it shows.

All politics need to be local Well that would work fine, till some local goup far away from your local goup, ddceeid to build empire. Through economic and military means they grow non-local and eventualy they come to your hood and you must assimilate or die,. . . ugly.I belive, all people require the same basic elements to live and be happy,. and that we can all agree on some basics as far as resource uses, human rights, and cooperation,. we need local control of local politics, with in an interconnected network of volantary cooperationg comunities. This will stop the rise of control freek despots and empire seeds,. if we ignore the world around our community that world will destroy our community. The only way to have “one world with no nation states” is to have it controlled by a few wealthy elite. Why? (my model works flawlessley in my mind even if i am not always clearly explaning it!) but just saying it can’t work, does not give me anything to go on, to fix my model,. . a world wide federated republic, with no politicians,. a fully direct democracy. Public debat is now possible at any scale, (internet forums are a close model) local, state, federation, moderated debat through facilitators,. that hold no power over any decition, the rise of good ideas that people can get behind.’ Say what you like about Chomsky, one thing he tought me, by endlessly pointing the fact out, is that if you look at serious polls of the people, they do largly agree on a great many things., and these issues are normally always applied in the near opposet way by elected governments,. . perpelexing perhaps,. but it does make one realise that given a proper system of debat and a direct democracy with no political class,. sanity is likely to prevail.

frank- all races, colors, credes as equals is communist dogma?? Seems like a simple truth,. all men are created equal’ ring a bell? Patriatism as in self identification with a nation-state’ is a terribly distructive impulse, leading people to oppress and kill others due to there otherness. A “universal” brotherhood of man sounds like a great idea to me, perhaps I should join the lucifarian masonic order, only i dont like the concept of organised religion.I am all for one world with no nation states,. just not under the control of a few wealth elite,. I would prefer we be self organised atonomus collectives interconected to cooperate for a common good. This system would require the abandonment of all faith-based cults of organised religion as these, like nationalism, lead to the fear of otherness,. and the deviding of the one human race from itself. United we stand indeed..,
