Whiskey Tango Friday

:z just the headline kills me..

A group of breastfeeding women descended on a local Chick-Fil-A restaurant Friday afternoon.

They’re trying to make a point the point that it’s OK to breastfeed in public.

The “Nurse-In,” as it is being dubbed, was organized by a mother who felt she was discriminated against at the restaurant.

She was breastfeeding her child when a restaurant employee told her to cover up.

Yeah, I don’t know why we’re so phobic about that. In most of the rest of the world it’s perfectly natural to see women breast feeding in public, even in otherwise very conserative countries, like Russia.

  2. Guy says:

The point is: we are not the rest of the world. We are America and it is offensive to many of us.

Additionally, Chic-Fil-A is a privately owned business and has the right to establish whatever policies they see fit to establish.

  3. Guy says:

Huh? My bad. I just noticed that it is legal to breastfeed in public in Florida. Never the less, I feel that the policy should be determined by the individual business.

  4. Niall says:

    Guy –

What is offensive about breastfeeding? A woman breast feeding is more modest than 90% of the women you see on the beach in Miami, that’s for sure.

Niall has “somewhat” of a point. Prior to WWII it was quite common (or at least MORE common) to see women breast feeding in public. It’s only been since then that the practice became frowned upon, although I have no idea as to the reason why.

  6. Niall says:

I think what happened is that, starting in the 60s, women stopped breast feeding. This was the great Age of Baby Formula. Many women found this very liberating and modern. So you had a generation of people who grew up without seeing women breast feed. Then women realized formula maybe wasn’t a real substitute for breast feeding, and started breast feeding again, and everyone started freaking out.

It’s funny in a culture drenched in porn, all forms immodesty, and the encouragement of the Lindsay Lohans and Paris Hiltons of the world, that people find the sight of a woman giving life and sustenance to her child obscene.

otherwise is an anti-semite.Anyway, it’s truly dreadful. Following on from that, it oucrcs to me that if Niall Ferguson is telling us something it’s because he’s been told to, and because it suits whomever it was that told him to say it. I’m sure you can dig it.

The center will not hold when its been cut up into trbeis of people with hate for our civilization, instead of just folks with simular goals. They want a Planet of no ethics or morals where beliving in God oe even hope has been abandoned. Where they can roam freely as the monsters they are inside.

I’m all talk when it comes to banning lace from my kniittng repertoire! Thanks for the advice. Back when I had high aspirations for kniittng everything lace, I bought a shit load of Jaggerspun Zephyr lace yarn. This might be the perfect opportunity to dive back into it hopefully being on vacation will keep me from going crazy again 🙂
