HAWAII, arriving.

ALOHA to the boys of SSN-776 as they arrive in Pearl Harbor, completing their change of homeport from the not-nearly-as-sunny Groton, CT.

Gov. Linda Lingle and Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona will be on hand to welcome the Navy’s first Virginia-class submarine to be home-ported in the Pacific.

The welcoming ceremony to greet the submarine Hawaii is set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Naval Submarine Base, Pearl Harbor.

The new $2.5 billion vessel is arriving in time for next month’s 50th statehood anniversary.
