Gov. Linda Lingle and Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona will be on hand to welcome the Navy’s first Virginia-class submarine to be home-ported in the Pacific.
The welcoming ceremony to greet the submarine Hawaii is set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Naval Submarine Base, Pearl Harbor.
The new $2.5 billion vessel is arriving in time for next month’s 50th statehood anniversary.
